Mining Prerequisites:
- Annode synced with the ANNE network. Please see Install an Annode
- Onboarded NID with ID Type: ANNE-chain miner. Please see Self onboarding additional NIDs
Mining Basics
ANNE uses POC (Proof of Capacity) Mining for coin distribution, you can mine with any storage device, No expensive or specialist hardware is required. HDD, SSD, SD Card, Flash USB, any device that can store plots. Your mining NID secret is required to mine, for your security you must be running your own Annode. Mining ANNE is for coin distribution and block forging, there are no rollbacks in ANNE, and no mining difficulty adjustment, ANNE is secured by the data and Annodes. With no expensive or specialist hardware required, everyone can participate providing they have some free storage space on a half decent machine.
Solo v Shared Mining
ANNE has 2 tiers of mining SOLO and SHARE mining, solo is for typical big dog miners, shared mining is for smaller miners, the user must choose which mining tier to participate in, you can switch between solo and share mining but never mine both tiers on the same block.
Mining Rewards
80% of blocks have 8 mining rewards, 1 Solo mining reward of 51% and 7 Share mining rewards of 7% each. Every 1 in 5 blocks is a SOLO mining only block and the solo winner is paid 100% of the mining reward.
*** An average of 720 blocks daily, would equal 4,752 daily mining rewards. 720 Solo mining rewards, and 4,032 share mining rewards. Every ANNE moonth of 21240 blocks, would equal a total of 140,184 mining rewards. 1 Year Totals Over 1.7 Million Miner Rewards. ***
Hardware
The main hardware needed is any storage device, typically HDD to store plots, to reduce time a GPU, and NVMe SSD for cache. The GPU and SSD are not essential and only used for plotting.
Minimum PC System Requirements, *excluding mining drives
- 64-bit Operating System
- 4 Core CPU
- 8GB RAM
- 64GB SSD
Recommended PC System Requirements, *excluding mining drives
- 64-bit Operating System
- 8 Core CPU
- 16GB RAM
- 128GB SSD
* The annode has been tested on Windows 8.1, 10 and 11, Linux Debian, RHEL, and R-PiOS.
Plotting
Before you can mine you need to plot your HDDs (or any storage device), using TURBOPLOTTER.
First ensure you have an onboarded NID with ID Type set as: ANNE-chain miner, to create a new NID for mining please see Self onboarding additional NIDs
Plotting your drives can take quite a long time, to speed things up you can use your GPU if you have one and also an NVMe SSD for cache, otherwise you can just use your CPU, the GPU and NVMe SSD are not essential.
Let's get started plotting
If you used the ANNE Easy Web Installer go to C:\ANNE\Tools\TurboPlotter.
Otherwise visit the Turboplotter Website and download it.
Turbolplotter works right out of the box as is just fine with default configs.
If you need to set plot size or only partially fill a drive, see: TurboPlotter configs.
First, Open Turboplotter and select No if this is your first time plotting.
Next, Enter your ANNE Miner NID.
Next, Click No here unless you later encounter an issue (never seen any).
Next, Select your GPU and NVMe SSD if you have them, and the target disk to plot.
Next, Check everything is correct and click the Start Plotting button.
Next, Turboplotter should start and you should see your GPU active.
* The Estimated time remaining is always way off, expect plotting to take much longer than the displayed estimate.
Turboplotter Configs
Set plot size and partially fill a drive.
- max_gb_per_file: 0 # Each plot file will be this size or less in GB
- max_gb_to_fill: 0 # Use this to fill only part of a target drive
Miner Setup (Windows and Easy Installer only)
The ANNE Easy Web Installer installed the miner with config wizard is at C:\ANNE\Miner
** If you did not use the ANNE easy web installer, Download the Miner
In the C:\ANNE\Miner folder click the start-anne-miner.exe file and select your mining mode.
* If unsure, click the SHARE mining button.
The Miner config wizard will appear, before entering your credentials, be sure that your annode is running and is synced with the network.
Enter your Miner NID, Secret and plot directories and click OK.
* The wizard will create the config file (if one does not exist) and start the miner. To edit the config delete and make new or see advanced below to edit manually. you can delete the config file at C:\ANNE\Miner\bin then run start-anne-miner.exe again for the wizard.
NOTE: For best security practises you should move your secret to your Encrypted Annode Config, see Advanced Miner Setup.
** The miner config wizard requires default port 9116.
